Four Times a Charm for Selective Travel Management

For the fourth time in succession Selective Travel Management has won a significant stake in a major UK contract with an overall annual value of £200 million

The Belfast-headquartered business will provide expert support for student and business travel on behalf of the Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium, the organisation established to optimise the buying power of universities, further education colleges and educational charities from across the UK.

Selective is one of just four companies from across the UK to secure a place as a SUPC preferred supplier and predicts that it will benefit to the tune of £110M+ from the win.

Keith Graham, Managing Director of Selective Business Travel, says, “This is a major achievement, and one which reinforces our increasingly strong position as a leader within the Higher Education sector.  Last time around, notwithstanding the major travel hiatus brought about by the pandemic, the contract brought us £80M.  Armed with that experience and with travel very much on the rise again, we are confident of doing even more business with SUPC members in the future.

“The high levels of customer contact and support which we maintained throughout the pandemic and during travel recovery undoubtedly reinforced loyalties and demonstrated our unique partnership values in action. It also supported us in creating tailored solutions and we continue to mould our offering to suit the specific and constantly changing needs of individual customers, rather than focus on rigid one-size-fits-all solutions.

"Selective’s value driven transparency fits seamlessly with the SUPC ‘buy smarter’ policies, while bespoke technology – created right here in Belfast – gives us a vital edge, empowering our customers to make complex travel arrangements with ease and confidence.

“As might be expected, those in academia are recognised as early adoptors of technology and are, in addition, particularly concerned with issues such as minimising carbon footprint.  The advances which we make in addressing the priorities of this highly demanding sector on behalf of influential clients such as SUPC are not only of advantage to them, but will roll out as benefits across our client portfolio.”
