Carbon Reporting
Through our extensive carbon reports, we have assisted our clients to drive change in terms of reducing their carbon impact. We automatically collect distance in kilometres and report in line with the latest DEFRA conversion factors on a Scope 3 basis. Targets can be embedded to monitor the progress of change and analysed at departmental levels to instigate and manage change. Reports include not only flight carbon dioxide reports, but also nitrous oxide and methane gas and incorporates radiative force factoring calculations. Additionally, hotel and UK rail figures are automatically included within our reports.
Carbon Offsetting
Selective Travel Management can assist all clients with offsetting your carbon emissions. We do this through our partnerships with various carbon management companies. These companies offer a range of carbon offset projects, all complying to international standards, including the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), Gold Standard Voluntary Emission Reductions (VER) and Certified Emission Reductions (CER). All of which meet the Quality Assurance Standard (QAS) for carbon offsetting. Many of the carbon offsetting projects also provide wider benefits in addition to carbon reduction, such as biodiversity, education, jobs, food security, and health and wellbeing in developing countries.
Preventative Measures
Selective Travel Management can assist all clients in reducing their own carbon emissions through effective travel policy compliance measures. Rules such as implementing rail for domestic travel and restricting cabin class or even enforcing flights within a percentage of the most sustainable options can be set. Preventative measures can also be addressed by capturing data to ensure the traveller has sought approvals to travel, checked if virtual means could be used etc. Should clients not have a travel policy, we can assist. Through our experience of working within multiple sectors we can advise the best approaches to helping control your travel programme.
Carbon Reduction Plan
We recognise the part that we can play in addressing the climate crisis. Our Executive Board has placed an emphasis on carbon reduction and has taken ownership of all sustainability actions. We are committed to reporting, reducing, and offsetting our impact on the environment, and to becoming net zero by 2035. As part of our commitment to net zero, we have produced our own Carbon Reduction Plan. We have completed and work alongside such initiatives as NETpositive and EcoVadis – the latter awarding us a bronze accreditation, ranking us within the top 35% of all evaluated companies.
