New casual dining restaurant, Flax & Soda, opens at Belfast International Airport
Passengers flying from Belfast International Airport have a new casual dining restaurant to enjoy as SSP Group, a leading operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations worldwide, has opened Flax & Soda in the centre of the Departures Lounge.
Celebrating the best of Northern Ireland, Flax & Soda is a 280-cover space offering a flexible, all-day dining experience tailored to a wide range of passenger needs.
The menu celebrates both local and global influences, from Belfast baps, breakfast naans and soda bread Benedicts in the morning to a varied selection of burgers, curries, fish and chips, Turkish-inspired chicken kebabs and vibrant salads later in the day. There is also an extensive choice of alcoholic, soft and hot drinks.
The venue places Northern Ireland at its core, proudly sourcing from a network of trusted local suppliers. Regional ingredients are showcased throughout the menu and bar offer, from high-quality meats and freshly baked breads to locally produced dairy and a carefully curated selection of local beers and spirits.

Located within the airside departures concourse, the new store provides travellers with a comprehensive range of products, including food and drink, health and beauty, books, magazines, travel essentials, and a curated selection of local and international brands. Designed with convenience and customer experience in mind, the store caters to both leisure and business travellers.
The store features a modern design, including a wall mural tailored to Belfast, with clear navigation, efficient checkout areas, and a layout tailored to high passenger flow. Customers can also enjoy a selection of food-to-go options and last-minute travel essentials.
The surrounding area has been expanded and transformed, incorporating high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that allow natural light to flood the space. The design also offers fantastic views across the airport parking apron, helping passengers feel more connected to their environment.
This latest opening marks another significant step in the airport’s ongoing £100 million investment programme, designed to modernise passenger facilities and elevate the overall travel experience.

The store has been reimagined in a new format, designed to offer convenience for customers shopping health, beauty and wellness while travelling. The updated format focuses on delivering an efficient and convenient experience, bringing a high-street quality shopping experience to the Belfast International Airport.
Customers will be welcomed into a modern and vibrant space featuring a distinctive new look and feel, stocked with everything from skincare for in-flight hydration, to last-minute travel toiletries and beauty must-haves. With an intuitive layouts and clearly defined quick find zones, the store enables shoppers to easily locate essentials, offering an efficient shop for customers on the move.
The store also introduces a curated beauty range, bringing more than 15 beauty brands to the airport for the first time, including Sundae, Daise, Byoma, Medicube and Habi skincare, alongside popular Korean beauty brands such as Beauty of Joseon, Biodance and Anua.
Customers passing through Belfast International Airport can also take advantage of the Boots Click & Collect service, allowing them to shop the full Boots range online and conveniently pick up their items before or after they travel, which is particularly useful for bulkier items like nappies and suncream.
The Boots Belfast International store is open Monday – Sunday 4:00am – 10:00pm.
