British Airways' subsidiary BA CityFlyer to launch a new daily service
BA CityFlyer is to begin a six-weekly service between George Best Belfast City Airport and London City Airport from 1 September, increasing to 18-weekly from 26 October.
The route was previously operated by flybe, which it began in 2014.
Brian Ambrose, Chief Executive at Belfast City Airport, said: “London City was an important route in the Flybe network providing connectivity between the heart of Belfast and the heart of London’s financial district.
“British Airways has been a long-standing partner of Belfast City, and the arrival of BA CityFlyer further enhances its commitment to Northern Ireland.”
The route will initially launch using a 98-seat E190 Embraer 190, with plans to increase frequency.
Last year Belfast was one of the top performing routes for London City Airport, with more than 210,000 passengers travelling between the two capitals.
