The Return of Business Travel

Travel is making a comeback and business trips are at the top of the agenda

As we reach the middle of 2021, we are continuously learning to cope with regular changes to government restrictions as we try to move forward with living life as safely as we can.

There is no doubt that the travel industry has been disproportionately affected by the coronavirus outbreak. However, as the vaccine programme is being rolled out worldwide and infection rates are declining, travel is resuming. Regular testing is being carried out for traveller protection and safety and the government has produced a traffic light system for the public to use as guidance on where they can and can’t travel, as well as the rules on isolation periods.

While Coronavirus is still very much present and we continue to fight it, we are trying to return to some form of normality and start living again. We all know it will take time for travel to return to similar levels as 2019 and early 2020 but we still look forward with hope.

According to businesswire.com, a YouGov poll with more than 1200 respondents was carried out for Emburse, an expense management specialist. The poll found that 70% of British workers agree travelling for work and conducting face-to-face meetings strengthens business relationships.

Results show that people from all walks of life have cabin fever and are keen to take on business trips as a result of the pandemic. It could be said that this is a result of remote working and previous business trips being delayed or cancelled. It is clear from the poll conducted that people are keen to travel and that Business travel is a good opportunity and maybe the first opportunity that people will have to travel.
